Meet your local guide and start the journey into the history of Tiber Island. Being a seat of the ancient temple of Asclepius and later a hospital, the island is associated with medicine and healing. Along with the island’s famous hospital, there are enchanting homes, courtyards, and streets reminiscent of its medieval origins.
Then, discover Rome's Jewish ghetto, established in 1555 by Pope Paul IV for the 5,000 Jews that lived in Rome at the time. The former walled quarter sits close to the river Tiber. Pass by Jewish-owned businesses and kosher restaurants that still remain in the area. Also, visit Porticus Octaviae, one of the most recognized landmarks in the ghetto in the middle of Piazza Mattei, and the amazing Turtle Fountain, a masterpiece in the oldest part of the Ghetto.
